🎄🔴It's beginning to look a lot like Clownsmas!🔴🎄
Clown Christmas Project
Clown Christmas Devising Project
Bring your clown back and make an act for a Christmas community performance showing! If you have done a minimum of 5 days of Red Nose Clown with myself or Giovanni Fusetti then you are invited to come to devise and perform a Christmas themed act. The end result will be a variety show consisting of clown acts performed for our friends and family!
The process will involve:
-Remembering/consolidating your clown form
-Devising a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 short acts, as well as a big group number
-Rehearsing the acts
-Performing the acts in a community showing
Skills practice:
-Participants will learn how to maintain/sustain their clown form and vocal mask
-Learn to play the full emotional range of their clown
-Solo performing skills: audience eye contact, naive state, non-negotiable level of physical engagement, embodied improvising, crescendo
- Duo/trio performing skills: improvising and connection with each other, action & reaction, crescendo
On the floor devising practice:
-Awareness of the 3 main roles of devising: Player, Writer & Director
-Creating scenes from playing/devising first
-Application of clown logic to writing process
-Witnessing directing red nose clown comedy
Bring your skills! If you have certain skills eg. playing musical instruments, circus, acrobatics, magic, singing or other talents you can propose those skills and work with your clown with them. There might even be an act or improv from the past that you want you bring back?!
Participation flat fee:
$400.00
Non-refundable deposit of $150.00 due within 5 days of being accepted into the course.
Full fee due by Nov 7th. No exceptions.
Minimum participants must be enrolled by Nov 7th for the workshop to go ahead.
Pre-requisites:
-Participants must have completed the 5 days Red Nose Somatic Clown process with Kimberley Twiner or Giovanni Fusetti.
-This is an intermediate workshop for people engaged in a regular live performance practice of some kind.
Application:
You are required to submit an application to be involved in the process. Please write a letter of motivation addressing the following points:
What motivates you to continue your work with your clown. Please outline any further training you’ve done since we last met and if you have taken your clown out to the stage/performances and your reflections on that. What do you desire to find more of in the clown work? A paragraph or two is necessary.
A note on AI.
I request that you do not use AI to generate your letter, this is not a job application, it is not about you ‘looking good’ it is about you expressing your drives, motivations, urgencies and poetic visions. We are fierce resistors of the plagiarizing machine that is known as AI. We deplore its impact on ecology, society and creativity. AI is inherently uncreative and applications shaped by AI will not be accepted.
Applications will be collected, reviewed and applicants will be notified of their acceptance on November 7th.
